COVID-19 Updates

Welcome to Phase 3! ~ July 9, 2020

Earlier this week, Governor Baker initiated Phase 3 of the Commonwealth’s four-phase reopening plan. As in previous phases, the Administration will monitor key public health trends and pause the reopening if necessary. The mandatory facial covering and Safer-at-Home orders are still in effect, and people in high-risk categories for infection should stay home except for essential errands.

Under this phase, additional sectors of the economy are able to reopen:

  • Movie theaters and outdoor performance venues
  • Museums, cultural and historical sites
  • Fitness centers and health clubs
  • Certain outdoor recreational activities with LOW potential for contact

Gatherings remain restricted in Phase 3.

  • Indoors: No more than eight people per 1,000 square feet, and not to exceed 25 people in any one enclosed space.
  • Outdoors in enclosed space: Limited to 25% of maximum occupancy, and not to exceed 100 people in a single enclosed space.
  • Outdoors in open space: Requires proper social distancing of six feet between people and the use of facial coverings.

Self-quarantine for 14 days also remains in effect (as of July 7, 2020) for visitors (or returning residents) from anywhere except the other New England states, New York and New Jersey.

Thank you for your great work to get us to Phase 3! Your continued adherence to the state mandates and guidelines has made a difference. While most other states are confronting surges in cases, Massachusetts remains one of the few that are trending in a positive direction.
