A Play Reading - American Clock

Friday, October 11, 2019 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Come join us for a reading of Arthur Miller's "American Clock" at the Arms Library at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11.

The play follows a Manhattan family -- the Baums -- as they struggle to survive the Great Depression.

It includes the voices of farmers, stockbrokers, young people and others during this critical period of American history.

We will take turns reading parts. No rehearsing, and no experience needed. You can also just watch and listen.

This is a fun way to be introduced to a fantastic play. "American Clock" is one of Miller's lesser-known ones. It is based on Stud Turkel's "Hard Times."

This will be the third in a four-play series organized by the Arms and Footlights at the Falls, a theater group that puts on a play each fall at Memorial Hall in Shelburne Falls.

The series included readings of "The Foreigner" by Larry Shue in July and "The Ferryman" in March.

The last reading will be of "You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running" by Robert Anderson at 6:30 on Friday, Dec. 13, which is four one-act comedies.

We will meet in the lower level meeting room.
